Ray has some health problems and finding that during the occasional times he was more or less
pain free was able to concentrate enough to use his sons computer for a few hours each week and from this he gained an interest in computing.
In the 80's the Amiga arrived and after discussing things with his doctor, he started spending a few hours each week running a well known public domain library known as Amiganuts United, (this was labelled as ocupational therapy), he later became the official UK distributor for the famous Tampa Bay Disks.
He also helped distribut a computer music creation tool known as MED, (Music
EDitor),
and with subsequent releases, after discussions with Teijo, (the
author) the program name changed to OctaMED because of it now
offering the user 8 tracks instead of the previous 4, it
subsequently received many magazine awards and became a very popular music
creation tool used by a thousands of Amiga users worldwide.
However, due to the bosses at CBM spending the profits on big boys toys
like helicopters etc., Commodore went bankrupt
and Ray was forced to continue on the PC windows platform.
The program was renamed as MED Soundstudio and the Windows V1 was
released in late 1999.
A lot of problems ensued, (
details here
), but even though Ray was forced to keep everything going by
ploughing money he had managed to save into the costs of web sites etc., he stuck with
it.
At long last work is now progressing, (admittedly sickeningly slow),
on the next version and it is hoped to have the very advanced V2 ready
for release in the late 06 / early 07
(
keep an eye on the News Page here )
All who register V1 ( or it's later v1.xx updates/upgrades ) will be receive a discount off V2
