Med Commands

This section of the site tries to deal with the commands that MED uses and explains how they all work and hopefully by the end you will have learnt how to put these commands together to make your songs, modules sound more natural and alive.

Some of the commands just deal with MED directly, like asking MED to play a number of lines within a block a certain amount of times to changing the volume of a individual note, other commands deal with adding effects like a simple vibrato to the more complex effects like filters and echo and others will deal with how a sample can be manipulated like sample offset.

When it comes to writing music many aspects have to be taken into consideration, how will that note follow this note, what part of the song will follow this part, but at the end of the day, these commands are an important part of how your song will sound.
Without them your song may sound lifeless and dull, my advice is learn as many as you can and if you can't always keep handy a reference to the commands handy. Either come back here or use the HELP files that are already within MED itself! Yes! They are there, it is under HELP in the menu bar.

00	Arpeggio	Gives a note a quick arpeggio
01	Slide Pitch Up	The same as a guitarist bending a note upward
02	Slide Pitch Down	The same as a guitarist bending a note downward
03	Portamento	A MIDI command that can be used on samples
04	Vibrato (Deeper)	Similar to a whammy bar on the guitar
05	Slide Pitch And Volume	Slides a note pitch up or down while changing volume
06	Vibrato And Volume Slide	Ramps the volume while giving a vibrato sound
08	Set Hold And Decay	This command gives a "after touch" to a sound
09	Set Ticks/Line	Sets amount of beats to a bar
0A	Slide Volume	Ramps the volume up or down smoothly
0B	Playing Sequence Position Jump	lets you jump from one part of the song to another within the song itself
0C	Set Volume	This sets the volume of a track to a given number
0D	Slide Volume	Ramps the volume up or down faster
0E	Wave/Pitch Sequence Position Jump or Set Panning	Eeek just go to the link and read it lol

10	Send MIDI Message	MIDI command
11	Slide Pitch Up Once	Slides the pitch of a note up once
12	Slide Pitch Down Once	Slides it down again! by one note
13	Set Pitch bender (Beside Note)	This is a MIDI command
14	Vibrato (Shallower)	As command 04 but not as heavy
15	Set Fine tune	Set the fine tune of badly tuned samples
16	Repeat Lines (Loop)	Repeats a given number of line within a track
17	Set Channel Volume	This command will set the channel volume
18	Mute Note	Kills the volume of a note in DMA
19	Sample Start Offset	Sets the starting position of a sample
1A	Slide Volume Up Once	Gives a smooth volume up
1B	Slide Volume Down Once	Gives a smooth volume down
1C	MIDI Command	Midi Command
1D	Jump To Next Playing Sequence Entry	Rather than play the whole block, this lets you jump to the next one
1E	Replay Line	Replays a point in a song any given amount
1F	Delay/Repeat Note	This command does various things but good for double kick FX
20	Reverse Sample and Relative Sample Offset	Reverses a sample to give an effect
21	Slide Pitch Up (Fixed Rate)	Slides the note up within a given rate by you
22	Slide Pitch Down (Fixed Rate)	As above but down again
23	Filter Sweep	Using this command with the next two gives that trance note phasing;
24	Set Filter Cutoff Frequency	Sound, The command 23 sweeps the note while 24 and 25 produces
25	Set Filter Resonance And Command	the other effects of this sound.
2E	Set Track Panning	Set the panning position of a sound between each speaker
